Constance treats a long weekend as a different animal from a two night break, because the middle night belongs to nobody. Nothing was arranged on it before the trip and nothing has to be recovered from it the day after, so a two or three hour booking stops being ambitious. She works in French, Dutch or English and lets a guest choose without ceremony. At thirty she has the steadiness that makes an unfamiliar suite feel like an ordinary room within a minute of the door closing. Oud-Zuid is her starting point, and she asks for the floor and the entry code in the thread rather than at the kerb.

Constance decides which bookings she takes and may decline any of them; she sets the limits for what a session includes, says what they are, and may end a visit at any point, as the terms set out.
